Losing someone close can feel as though the ground has been pulled from beneath you. Grief is not a straightforward journey, and each person’s experience is as unique as their relationship with the one they’ve lost. The process is rarely linear; just as you start to feel you’re gaining some control, a simple reminder can bring a wave of fresh sorrow. These shifting emotions can make it feel difficult to find your footing, and it’s not unusual to feel lost or even question your ability to cope. In these moments, having someone to listen, understand, and guide you can offer immense comfort, allowing you to honor your loss without being engulfed by it.
For me, it was through counseling that I was able to explore and give space to each part of my grief, learning to carry it rather than be crushed by it. My younger sister’s book embodies this journey, offering gentle, compassionate guidance for both children and adults.
